Juandiego Riccardo Wade is the Mayor the City of Charlottesville and the Career Center Coordinator with the County of Albemarle Department of Social Services. He is married to Claudette T. Grant. They have one daughter, Gabriella Ruby Lee Wade. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Planning from Norfolk State University and a Master’s Degree in Urban and Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia.

As the Career Center Coordinator, he established it as a full-service Center. He served for sixteen years as an elected member of Charlottesville School Board where he served in various roles including chair. He also served as President of the Virginia School Boards Association. In November 2021, Juandiego was elected to the Charlottesville City Council.

He is involved in numerous community non-profit organizations. A partial list of these organizations includes, United Way of Greater Charlottesville, Charlottesville Scholarship Program, Community Investment Collaborative, 100 Black Men of Central Virginia, Grace Tinsley Scholarship Program, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, JAUNT Transit and the University and Community Working Group (Co-Chair).

Juandiego has a deep passion for mentoring youth in the greater Charlottesville community and has been a mentor to many youths over the past 35 years. A list of the organizations that he has mentored with includes, Alpha Phi Alpha Journeymen Mentoring Program, C4K, Abundant Life Ministry, 100 Black Men of Central Virginia, Olivet Presbyterian Church, Grace Tinsley Scholarship Program, and the Charlottesville Scholarship Program.

He has been recognized for his community involvement through numerous awards:
